Experienced India while in Tokyo

Last week I went to Indian temple in Funabori Edogawa-ku Tokyo. The name of the temple is ISCKON “ Shri Shri Radha Govind Mandir” which is located just at 2 minutes walk from Funabori station.

Temple has beautiful dieties who are worshipped by many people in India. This temple is a part of ISCKON ( International Society for Krishna Consciousness ) which was established in 1966 and is famous worldwide.

I was very excited to visit the temple as I wanted to see that how the temple in japan would be different from the other temples of ISCKON. I thought the care takers of the temple would be Indians but I was amazed to see that the temple is organised and taken care of by Japanese. And, I hardly found any difference . I was very glad to see all the Japanese devotees in indian traditional attires and how beautifully they were chanting the name of god in Hindi. Infact the Prasad ( food being served in temples is called Prasad) was cooked by Japanese and of exactly the same taste which I ate before in India. I attended sacred chants of two hours( which was little long for me) and afterwards we were served with food which was undoubtedly delicious.

I was very overwhelmed to experience my culture even when in Tokyo.

But, I think I will definitely recommend Japanese people to visit if they want to experience different culture and customs in their own country. You don’t have to worry about the language as there will be many Japanese people to assist you there. Temple has a specific routine so make sure you visit there during the opening hours. For more details I am adding  the website i.e. http://www.govindas-tokyo.com/ . Visit this webpage before planning a visit in order to avoid any inconvenience.

So, I hope today you must have discovered something new and would definitely plan to visit the temple atleast for once.

INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS
